Members of the anti-gun group Protest Easy Guns, as well as interested individuals and passersby, staged a lie-in at Times Square yesterday on the first anniversary of the Virginia Tech shooting.
The group is made up of "concerned citizens ... who believe that it is too easy to purchase guns in America," according to the group's website.
Thirty-two people laid themselves down on the ground in memory of the number of students killed in a shooting at the university last year.
The group was on the ground for three minutes, which is symbolic of the time it takes to buy a gun at a gun show. The lie-in took place in front of the Marriott Marquis on 45th Street and Broadway.
